The review process

How a healthcare-focused IUL review works

The process is designed to answer a narrow question: whether permanent life insurance deserves further consideration within the plan you already have.

1. Describe the need before discussing a policy

The review begins with your healthcare role, state, family protection goals, existing benefits, time horizon and comfortable funding range. The website form does not request a Social Security number, medical records, banking details or payment information.

  • Coverage objectives and who would rely on the death benefit
  • Employer life insurance and whether it follows you after a job change
  • Retirement accounts, HSA access and other long-term savings
  • Emergency reserves, debt obligations and budget flexibility

2. Confirm licensing and basic fit

A licensed professional must be authorized in your state before discussing available insurance products. Once availability is confirmed, the conversation can test whether the need is permanent, whether premiums appear sustainable and whether simpler alternatives should also be reviewed.

An initial conversation cannot determine final eligibility or pricing. Those depend on carrier underwriting, product rules and the information supplied in a formal application.

3. Read the carrier illustration in layers

An illustration is a model, not a forecast. Review values based on contractual terms separately from values that depend on current assumptions. Look at policy charges, index-crediting limits, premium duration and the effect of lower crediting or changed loan assumptions.

  • Which values are fixed by the contract and which can change
  • How caps, participation rates, spreads and floors affect credits
  • How cost-of-insurance and rider charges develop over time
  • What happens if premiums are late, reduced or paused
  • What lower-crediting scenarios do to policy duration

4. Decide deliberately, then monitor the contract

If you apply, underwriting may confirm a different risk class or cost than the initial discussion assumed. Read the issued contract and carrier disclosures during the review period provided by law and the policy.

A policy that is placed in force still requires attention. Review statements, premiums, crediting changes, loans, withdrawals, beneficiaries and policy projections periodically and after meaningful changes in your career or family.
